Napkin rings

From the beginning of the 19th century we no longer wiped our fingers on clothes or tablecloths, the personal napkin made its appearance. These napkins were not washed after every meal and therefore had to be recognizable for the owner. The napkin band, or napkin ring, with monogram was the solution for this. The napkin rings were used exclusively at dinner. A smaller sized napkin was used for breakfast or lunch; the finger cloth, with its own size band.
