Rorstrand East Indies

The Rörstrand service Ostindia or East Indies was introduced in 1932. The inspiration for the decor was a shard of porcelain that surfaced from the in 1745 sunken East Indies sailor 'Gotheborg'. The service was a huge success and was even proclaimed 'service of the century' in Sweden. The original crockery is handmade from earthenware that is beautifully glazed in a delicate light blue color. Decorated in underglaze, florally decorated in blue and edged with caramel brown. The parts we offer come from this original, earthenware, service.

In 2012 Rörstrand re-released this service in a porcelain version and added new parts and a variation pattern (Ostindia Floris).
