Chinese Early Republic bowl and spoon Wise old man
SKU: CW175251Antique Chinese bowl with spoon, both parts hand-decorated in overglaze with a representation of an old wise man, or perhaps the God of prosperity Sau, who sits in a garden with flowering prunus. The Chinese symbolism is reflected in the three red bats (happiness), the three friends of winter (bamboo, pine tree and flowering prunus), and the large peach against which the man is leaning. The rim of the bowl and the base ring are decorated with gold.
Not marked, Early Republic, 1917 - 1935.
Dimensions: diameter bowl 12 cm, height 6 cm, length spoon 13.4 cm.
In beautiful condition, without damage or wear of the painting.
