Pillivuyt green porcelain Mazagran coffee cup
SKU: BW173A pair of Pillivuyt bistroware Mazagran coffee cups in green with gold rim. Heavy quality. First half 20th century. The cup model is named after Mazagran, a classic iced coffee consisting of espresso, cold water, sugar and a dash of fresh lemon juice. Named after the Mazagran fortress in Algeria, where French soldiers drank this drink during the colonial wars, around 1840. They then took the recipe home where it became very popular. Mazagran was drunk in a thick porcelain cup without a handle, a timeless design that also became popular for drinking 'normal' coffee.

In beautiful vintage condition, with normal signs of wear. 1 cup has a glaze hairline on the inside, not disturbing.
