Miniature portrait Louise Van Mecklenburg Strelitz Queen of Prussia
SKU: PR21Miniature portrait of Louise van Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1776 - 1810), who died young, wife of the King of Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm III. Hand-painted in watercolor on ivory, after the portrait Josef Grassi made of her in 1802. Queen Louise wears a gold diadem in her auburn hair. Her white dress is trimmed with gold, a red cape rests on her shoulder. The bright blue ribbon of the dress is still visible.
The portrait has a brass frame with the original convex glass. The octagonal bone frame is inlaid with mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell and is in its original condition. The back of the frame is covered with paper with Dutch text on it.

Dating from the third quarter of the 19th century.
Dimensions: 8.6cm x 10.3cm.
Condition: no damage or restorations, some discolored hairlines in the bone frame.
